In July 2019, Tiloom's technical team visited the sports facilities of the University of Vigo as an accrediting body for the homologation required to participate as a playing field in FER (Spanish Rugby Federation) competitions.

We travel with the teams, which include:

After a general visual reconnaissance of the surface, data collection began on site, a rugby field with more than 20 years of history behind it.

Not forgetting the expertise of the technician who is able to find problems that he can then share with the maintenance technician in order to improve the pitch as far as possible.

The parameters obtained are studied and analysed on the basis of the UNE 41.959 sports turf quality standards, NIDE or FIFA regulations and methodologies based on agronomic criteria.

The commitment of institutions such as the University of Vigo is actively concerned about the safety and health of its players, in addition to maintaining a field in good playing conditions. The information obtained in the evaluation can be cross-referenced with the cultural work carried out and, as a result of this knowledge, new maintenance strategies can be planned according to the objective to be achieved.

In addition to data collection from equipment and technical advice, assessments can be complemented by foliar analysesof water and soil which the Tiloom team interprets and integrates together with the results to finally draw up recommendations in line with the objectives of continuous quality improvement.

These evaluations can serve as support for third parties, management, coaching staff, players, etc... showing an objective evaluation of your facilities under the responsibility of a qualified external company. Achieving that:

• Clubs and their maintenance companies have the option to measure and put figures to the effect of their pitch maintenance work, or to detect the need to carry out maintenance work based on data from monitoring equipment and instruments.
• The players' fitness coaches and medical staff of the clubs will be able to share objective and measurable language on the condition of the turf with the maintenance team.
• Official institutions will have a means of knowing the status of a pitch.
• Maintenance managers have an objective, quantitative and qualitative criterion to assess the quality of their suppliers (turf, installers, treatments, etc.).

The Sport Surface Assessment is a tool to objectify and provide quantitative data the person responsible for the maintenance of a golf course, rugby, football or natural surfaces.
