One of the most important points in the use of crop protection products is the labelling of pesticides. This is important because it helps us to know what the contraindications of the products and the dangers of their use are.
On 1 June 2017, the latest amendment to the regulation on the labelling of plant protection products was made in line with European regulations. 1272/2008. The pictograms to be used are as follows:
- 1 - Corrosive
- 2 - Flammable
- 3 - Toxic for the environment
- 4 - Irritant
- 5 - Dangerous for the respiratory tract
- 6 - Toxic to humans
These pictograms are intended to protect the operator from poor product handling practices and to avoid hazards.
These signs replace and simplify the old ones. They are accompanied by an alphanumeric code with the structure HXXX. The code specifies in more detail the danger in question.
All products sold in Spain must be at least in Spanish, with optional regional or other languages.
Let's not forget that it is very important to read the label where you will find all the information on pictograms and other information such as;
- Product name.
- Active substance
- Official registration number
- Product action
- Formulation
- Date of manufacture
- Use and dosage
- Safety times
- Tips for use
For a proper use of this kind of products you should use them responsibly, that's why in Tiloom we always suggest you to review the manufacturer's instructions before using them.
