Description
The analogue soil compaction meter, also called a penetrometer, is used to determine the density of soil and other materials. In other words, it is an inexpensive way to measure the soil compaction with an analogue readout.
The dial indicates in colour code the soil compaction to a depth of 60 cm (24 inches).
The rod is made of stainless steel with adjustable shock collar to prevent damage during transport or storage.
Invisible soil compaction can limit root growth and the absorption of water and nutrients. This compaction meter allows you to identify compacted areas so you can fix these problems before they become more serious.
For further information on compaction, you may be interested in the FieldScout SC-900 Digital Penetrometer. This penetrometer is a meter capable of taking compaction readings of 45 centimetres.
