Description
With the far red-red spectrum light absorption meter you can easily find out how effective the plant cover is and whether the proximity (density) between plants is optimal.
Characteristics:
- Displays the Red/Far Red ratio on the LCD.
- Press a button to display the 660 nm and 730 nm readings.
Plants absorb red light (660-680nm) and reflect far red light (720-740nm). Plant leaves filter the light by allowing more far-red light to pass through than red light. Knowing the ratio of red to far red can help you determine how much space the plant needs and decide when to apply growth regulators to the plant.
"Measuring DLI within a greenhouse or precision agronomic crops can be very revealing as growers or maintainers often rely on their eyes to determine light levels and the human eye is a terrible light sensor because it is not as effective at adjusting to different shades of light." James E. Faust (Associate Professor of Horticulture, Clemson University).
