Anthracnosis is a fungal disease caused by the fungus Colletotrichum Cereale, which survives on remains of soil organic matter. The most important damages take place on Poa Annua greens and sometimes on Agrostis greens.
Factors such as water stress, high temperatures, nitrogenous deficiencies, low mowing and compaction, favor the development of Foliar Blight Anthracnose.

The infection does not result in the formation of mycelium. On the other hand Basal Rot Anthracnose usually occurs during wet and cold springs. It coincides with low mowing heights and nitrogen deficiencies.
The symptoms are a discoloration, taking yellow-orange tones, which start from the tips down and loss of vigor.
The pathogen produces spores in the infected leaves through specialized structures called acervuli. These structures have bristling shapes that are the diagnostic signs of the disease. Next you can see acervuli on Poa Annua tissue.
The incidence and severity is greater in Poa Annua than in Agrostis.
Summer stress is one of the most influential causes in its development, so watering to reduce temperature and reduce traffic to avoid compaction are good cultural practices to reduce its incidence.

The chemical control is the application of contact fungicides that inhibit the germination of spores in hot and humid periods, such as Chlortalonil, some others of the type DMI or QoI are also valid.
Avoid successive applications of systemic fungicides, since it is easy the emergence of resistances for example for methyl thiophanate, DMI or QoIs fungicides. It is advisable to always mix these with contact fungicides type Clortalonil.
